WALK ON THE GULF (2 h): the wonderful promenade runs along the Gulf to the neighborhood of Elena. Departure from the Municipal Garden in front of the Panatica. MUNICIPAL PARK (2 min): very near a municipal park that is a jewel, under the trees comfortable benches overlooking the gulf; for children an equipped playground. WALK IN THE MEDIEVAL CITY (1h 30): browse the alleys surrounding the two castles, along the perimeter of the citadel; ancient churches and sea views. SPLITTED MOUNTAIN (2 hours): a pilgrimage destination for Christians. The mountain split open on the day of Christ's death on the cross. The hand of an incredulous Turk is imprinted in the rock. SERAPO BEACH (2 hours): beautiful and wide beach for winter walks and for swimming in the summer. MONTE ORLANDO VERSANTE A MARE (panoramicwalk) (2 hours): you go up and at each return a breathtaking view of the medieval citadel MAUSOLEUM OF MUNAZIO PLANCO (3 hours): climb Mount Orlando on the slope towards Serapo and arrive, after having seen many interesting historical sites, at the spectacular mausoleum of MunazioPlanco, general of Julius Caesar. CITY CENTER AND VIA INDEPENDENZA (2- 3 hours): a stroll for shopping in the quaint alley called the Budello, full of delicious local craft shops and typical food products. THE DEVIL'S WELL (3 hours): a nice walk along the beach of Serapo, going up via Fontania, leads to a natural formation: a well in the rock 30 m high. Along the road you can go down to the beach of Fontania where there are remains of Roman constructions. CULINARY SPECIALTIES OF GAETA - the buffalo mozzarella - the tiella with all the different toppings - salted olives - the sautéed escarole - the escapececourgettes - allfishbased cuisine PLACES OF CULTURAL INTEREST There are numerous: the Cathedral with the crypt, the Annunziata church with the golden chapel, San Francesco, the sanctuary of the Split Mountain, the MunazioPlanco mausoleum and many other places that you will find in the tourist guides. THE SERAPO BEACH AND THE ULYSSES RIVIERA Serapo is one of the most beautiful beaches in Italy, due to the presence of fine sand and rocks, for being a protected inlet where the sea is gradual and warm; and equipped with numerous bathing establishments and with some stretches of free beach. Along the coast towards Sperlonga there are numerous other coves with very beautiful beaches (the main ones are the Ariana, the Arenauta, Sant’Agostino). GAETA BY BOAT The tourist port of the Medieval Gaeta is called Porto di Santa Lucia and is there they can rent boats with or without the sailor.
